Spring in the Cotswolds, 6 Days Out!

Why Spring Is the Best Time to Visit the Cotswolds

Spring is arguably the best season to visit the Cotswolds. The countryside is lush and green, villages are quieter than in summer, and many traditional events take place during this time.

Whether you're watching lambs being born, enjoying a countryside walk, sipping champagne at a polo match, or browsing village boutiques, spring offers the perfect balance of nature, culture and classic English charm. Here are some of the best things to do in the Cotswolds, tried and tested by the Cotswold Fox team!

Visit the Spring Lambs at Cotswold Farm Park

One of the most wholesome spring activities in the Cotswolds is visiting Cotswold Farm Park during lambing season. Founded by farmer and TV presenter Adam Henson, the farm park celebrates rare British breeds and becomes especially lively in early spring when hundreds of lambs are born.

Visitors can often watch lambs being born in the lambing barn, bottle‑feed young lambs, and meet piglets, chicks and other baby animals. If you're visiting the Cotswolds with family in spring, this is one of the most memorable experiences in the region.

Best time to visit: March–April.

Our outfit recommendation: A Cirencester Quarter Zip and Shorts set, super practical and stylish.

Attend The April Meeting at Cheltenham Racecourse

While the Cheltenham Festival gets the global attention, locals love the more relaxed April Meeting at Cheltenham Racecourse. This event combines high‑quality racing with a slightly more laid‑back, spring atmosphere (not to mention much warmer weather)!

Expect stylish spring outfits, champagne on the terrace, and beautiful views over the surrounding Cotswold hills. It's one of the best spring events in the Cotswolds.

Outfit recommendation: Anything paired with a Tetbury Quarter Zip will look incredibly smart! Choose from 9 colours.

Watch the Famous Cheese Rolling at Cooper’s Hill

For something completely unique, head to Cooper’s Hill near Brockworth for the legendary Cooper’s Hill Cheese‑Rolling. This centuries‑old event sees competitors chase a wheel of Double Gloucester cheese down an incredibly steep hill.

The cheese can reach impressive speeds and participants tumble spectacularly in pursuit. It's a bizarre and unforgettable traditional Cotswolds spring event to witness.

Usually held: Late May Bank Holiday.

Outfit recommendations: A Bourton Jumper to stand out from the crowd.

Spend a Day Watching Polo at Cirencester Park

For a relaxed countryside day out, head to Cirencester Park Polo Club, widely considered one of the most beautiful polo grounds in England. Spring marks the beginning of the polo season, and matches take place against the stunning backdrop of historic parkland.

Bring a picnic blanket, a bottle of champagne or rosé, and your friends. Settle in for an afternoon of polo and sunshine, one of the most stylish things to do in the Cotswolds in spring.

Outfit idea: A Knitted Quarter Zip over the top of your summer dress.

Walk Cleeve Hill for the Best Views in the Cotswolds

For fresh air and spectacular views, head up Cleeve Hill, the highest point in the Cotswolds. In spring, the landscape bursts into life with wildflowers, birdsong and fresh green hills. On a clear day you can see across the Severn Vale and even into Wales.

It’s a perfect spot for a scenic Cotswolds spring walk, walking your dog, or enjoying a relaxed countryside picnic.

Outfit idea: Our Unisex Fleece Gilet to keep the breeze out and with deep pockets for dog treats

Explore the Boutiques in Broadway

Often described as the Jewel of the Cotswolds, Broadway is one of the prettiest villages to visit in spring. The wide high street is lined with art galleries, antique shops and independent boutiques, making it perfect for a leisurely afternoon of browsing.

Finish your visit with lunch at the historic Lygon Arms, a beautiful coaching inn that has welcomed travellers for centuries. A long lunch here is the perfect way to slow down and enjoy the atmosphere of the village.

Outfit ideas: One of our spring colours of the Tetbury Quarter Zip. Perhaps the prettiest product we've ever designed.
