I was 23 years old and at University when I launched my clothing brand, Cotswold Fox. By ‘launched’ I mean I had £450 in my bank account to spend, Googled how to do everything, and created my first logo in Microsoft Word (would not recommend). Four years later, it’s my full-time job. We have a catalogue of over 60 products, we just shot our Spring/Summer Campaign in Marrakech, and we achieved half a million pounds in revenue last year. I learnt everything, and am still learning, by just ‘giving it a go’ (my life motto).
This book covers:
- Tips, tricks and insights into a very competitive industry.
- Coming up with the brand name and logo.
- Designing your first product.
- How and where to find a supplier.
- Marketing, website and photography.
- Building for the future, how to go on to create a global brand!
Getting your brand out there is a relentless slog. It’s unglamorous, uncomfortable, occasionally embarrassing and always exhausting. Persistence and resilience are the two most important traits when building a business and, unfortunately, things don’t just happen by magic! There won’t be a moment where you’ve ‘made it’. I don't believe this ever happens. It takes hard work, thinking outside the box, bravery and a little luck. However, not to put you off because it is TOTALLY possible and, not to sound too cliche, if a clueless young Jemima can do it, you absolutely can too.
I will tell the very honest story of how I started Cotswold Fox, from designing my first product to finding a supplier and building a website. I’ll then cover how I would start a business if I were to do it again, having made all the mistakes over the years. I have (hopefully) broken it all down into easy-to-understand steps without the unnecessary terminology and confusion. I also give ballpark costs for each stage, which is information usually kept under wraps in the industry, to be as transparent as possible. I will tell you how to do 90% of things yourself to keep your costs as low as possible, doing this will also be the best grounding on which to start a successful business, which you will understand every aspect of.

In each product description we have a 'model wears' section, stating what size the model wears and their measurements, which can be useful for your own comparisons. Our size guide should also be able to help, but if you're in any doubt, please use our live chat where we can assist you (not a robot!)

How do I go about returning or exchanging an item purchased online?
To access our dedicated online returns portal, you’ll need to enter your email address or phone number, as well as your order number, then simply submit your request, so that we can approve it.
